Johnny K

Johnny K is the Chief Commercial Officer at Versus, the leading platform shaping football’s future and exploring its influence on culture and society. Since joining in 2019, he has been central to the growth of the brand, helping to build a community that bridges sport, music and wider culture, while championing the voices that drive them forward.

Johnny’s career has always sat at the intersection of culture and creativity. He has held roles at The Guardian and Boiler Room, two organisations that have been instrumental in shaping media and youth culture in the UK and beyond. Alongside this, he has worked in music management, guiding the careers of Mercury Prize and MOBO nominated artist Novelist between 2021 and 2023, and now representing rising star Bawo. His work in this space also extends to consultancy, where he continues to advise emerging and established artists on music strategy and creative activations. Johnny’s expertise and influence in music are further recognised through his place on the BRIT Awards voting committee.

A lifelong West Ham supporter, Johnny has combined his professional creativity with his love for football by working with the club on their acclaimed Fans on Film photography series. The project documents the raw emotion, energy and identity of the fanbase, capturing the stories that live in the terraces and travel across the country with the club.
Beyond his professional roles, Johnny has built a powerful personal platform as a storyteller. Across social media, he shares vivid accounts from his childhood, moments of struggle and growth, and the lessons that shaped his outlook on life. Gio Russo is the reliable, older brother we all wish we had. After spending time living in Australia during his 20s, Gio appeared on this year’s Love Island to critical acclaim as he stood out for his decency, authenticity and warmth. More recently, Gio has appeared on major broadcast networks including TalkSport and BBC Sport giving his punditry insight on the Lionesses’ progress at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 where the England team, with his sister Alessia Russo, went on to win the tournament.
